Modify VPLS
Purpose
Allows you to add or remove VPLS NEs from a saved or deployed VPLS instance.
Allows you to add ports to an existing VPLS.
Allows you to align a VPLS with VLANs added to VPLS ports.
Please refer to
Create VPLS section for more details.
Purpose: Align VPLS with added ports
Allows you to add ports on specific nodes to a saved or deployed VPLS instance. This is applicable when one or several ports have been added to a VPLS VLAN on a specific NE via the
FOXCST GUI. After having added ports to the VPLS VLAN, the VPLS status will appear “Unaligned”.
To add ports to a saved or deployed VPLS instance:
Prerequisites
- Required ports have been added to the VPLS VLAN via the
FOXCST GUI. The port Status on the respective NE (node) of the VPLS therefore appears with a status “Unaligned – Added” in the ENP.
Proceed as follows:
1. In the ENP main window, VPLS tab, select the required, unaligned VPLS instance.
2. Select “Modify VPLS…”.
3. Proceed to step 3 in the GUI dialog “Define VPLS NEs”.
4. Expand the required (modified) NE.
• The added port(s) appear in the list of ports, with Status = “Unsaved”.
5. Verify if the added port(s) are as required.
• If not, go back to the
FOXCST GUI to correct the port characteristics, otherwise proceed with the next step.
6. Click “Next >” to continue VPLS modification.
7. Click “Next >”, then “Finish” to conclude and Save the changes. Confirm pop-up message.
• The modified VPLS appears with Status = “Saved OK”.
• The added port(s) appear with Status = “Saved OK”.
8. Deploy the modified VPLS to apply the changes to the node(s).
• The modified VPLS appears with Status = “Deployed Valid”.
• The added port(s) appear with Status = “Deployed Valid”.
Result: You have successfully added VPLS ports to an existing VPLS.

Purpose: Align VPLS with added VLANs
Allows you to add VLANs on specific ports to a deployed VPLS instance. This is applicable when one or several VLANs have been added to a VPLS port on a specific NE via the
FOXCST GUI. After having added one or several VLANs to the VPLS port(s), the VPLS status appears “Unaligned”.
To align a VPLS that is unaligned due to a VLAN added to one of the VPLS ports:
Prerequisites
- A new VLAN (ID) has been added to one of the VPLS ports on one or several nodes via the
FOXCST GUI. The VPLS therefore appears with a status “Unaligned” in the ENP.
Proceed as follows:
1. In the ENP main window, VPLS tab, select the required, unaligned VPLS instance.
2. Select “Modify VPLS…”.
3. Proceed to step 3 in the GUI dialog “Define VPLS NEs”.
4. A pop-up message appears, informing that the “Alignment SniPort succeeded”.
5. Click “OK” to confirm this alignment.
6. Click “Next >”, then “Next >” to proceed.
7. Click “Next >”, then “Finish” to conclude and Save the changes. Confirm pop-up message.
• The modified VPLS appears with Status = “Saved OK”.
8. Deploy the modified VPLS to apply the changes to the node(s).
• The modified VPLS appears with Status = “Deployed Valid”.
• The modified port(s) appear with Status = “Deployed Valid”.
Result: You have successfully aligned new VLAN(s) on VPLS ports of an existing VPLS.
